Dear Sunset Lane Seahawks,
What a year the 2020-2021 school year was. Together we made it through a pandemic and found ways to encourage and support one another while trying our best to remain positive and optimistic. Although there were challenging times, we all rose to the occasion and gave it our very best to persevere and overcome all that this year brought with it. I am so impressed with the dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families. Our collaboration and ongoing partnerships allowed us to creatively find ways to make this year both memorable and enjoyable for our students.
Our mission statement focuses on us demonstrating our personal best, collaborating, and showing kindness to others. I feel like this perfectly sums up how our Seahawk family showed up for one another this year. We gave our best regardless of our unique circumstances, we worked together to remain student-centered in our decision making, and we showed kindness and extended grace to one another more so than ever before. It truly has been an honor to witness such resiliency and genuine care and concern for the well-being of our entire Sunset Lane school community. I am overwhelmed by the amount of pride I have for our school and want to acknowledge all of our Seahawks for soaring high and shining bright this year.
As we move forward, my hope for everyone is that we continue to lean on one another for support and encouragement. That we continue to focus on building positive relationships and that we strive to make the most out of our time together, so that our students look back on their memories of Sunset Lane with fondness. Maya Angelou said it best when she said, “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” So, let’s continue to celebrate one another and make each other feel valued, feel seen, and feel heard.
